In addition to being BONITA, La Palma is also known for its lush natural heritage as the Green Island. With our excursion to the northeast area, you will discover the beauty of its landscapes, with ever-changing vegetation due to multiple microclimates, imposing ravines, and picturesque traditional hamlets.

In the beautiful municipality of Puntallana, known for its notable agricultural tradition, we will visit the small corner of Mirador de La Montaña, to delight in an unparalleled panoramic view of mountains covered in a green mantle, a rugged coastline full of cliffs, and an original sculpture that recalls the local legend of Salto del Enamorado. After enjoying the views from the mountaintop, we will stop at the next viewpoint in the same locality, the Barranco de La Galga.

In San Andrés y Sauces, the green heart of La Palma awaits us: the Natural Reserve of Bosque de los Tilos, a place that will undoubtedly captivate you from the first minute. It is a true environmental gem, protected by UNESCO and the first Biosphere Reserve on the island. It is one of the most important forests in the Canary Islands, where the beauty of laurel forest with an ecosystem inherited from the Tertiary era is showcased in all its splendor. At the Interpretation Center, we will learn even more about the values of this exceptional environment in which we find ourselves.

Our route goes “from the mountains to the sea,” passing through the picturesque village of San Andrés. Framed by banana plantations and its historic church square, it is one of the most beautiful places on the island. A leisurely stroll towards Puerto Espíndola allows us to enjoy the coast, see the natural pools of Charco Azul, and visit the Ron Aldea distillery, where rum is traditionally and carefully crafted from sugarcane.

In Barlovento, we will visit the Mirador de la Tosca, located at an altitude of about 630 meters, from where one can observe one of the best collections of dragon trees on the island. The recreational area of the natural pools of La Fajana is also worth visiting. There, we find the literary viewpoint dedicated to San Mao, the most important writer from China.
