Amongst pines and banana trees, ravines and volcanoes, El Valle de Aridane emerges, a region dominated by the high slopes that form La Caldera de Taburiente, an area declared a National Park in 1954 with great interest from the geological, botanical, faunistic and hydrological point of view, as well as others.
With this guided excursion you can tour the city of Los Llanos de Aridane to learn about its agricultural tradition and modern urban development.
Taking as a starting point the tourist centre of Los Cancajos, the guided tour begins with a bus trip to the other side of the island, crossing the summit that divides it from north to south to reach one of its natural jewels, La Caldera de Taburiente.
As a first stop we will visit the Visitor Centre of La Caldera de Taburiente National Park, where we will be able to see the main aspects of this spectacular depression of about 8 km in diameter, and then we will go up to one of the most visited viewpoints, La Cumbrecita viewpoint, with a spectacular panoramic view of the interior of La Caldera.
From there we will head to the city of Los Llanos de Aridane, where we will board an attractive tourist train to tour the historic centre of the municipality, passing by the Church of Los Remedios, La Plaza Chica, Calle Real or the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum until we reach El Llano de Argual, an area of great historical interest for the social and economic development of the island. During the walk we will discover the past and present of a region that has managed to combine its powerful agricultural tradition with a modern and dynamic present reflected in its streets, its commerce and its heritage.
After the visit by train through the main streets of Los Llanos, we will return by bus to the starting point in Los Cancajos and Santa Cruz de La Palma, a cultural excursion on the island of La Palma that you will not forget!
