Walking through the historic centre of the island’s capital, with its cobbled streets and rich architectural heritage, becomes a pleasant walk through another era. Discover with our guided tour a city declared a Historic-Artistic Site full of traditions and curiosities.
Departing by bus from the touristic centre of Los Cancajos in Breña Baja, we will travel to Santa Cruz de La Palma, the capital of the island, making the first stop at the port, a key point for the development of a city closely linked to the maritime world.
From this place and in a tourist train, we will make a panoramic route by some of the main routes until arriving at the north zone, stopping previously in the historical origin point of the city, in Plaza de la Encarnación. Around this area begins the urban development of Santa Cruz de La Palma, founded in 1493 by Alonso Fernández de Lugo.
After the train tour, we will walk through the historical centre of Santa Cruz de La Palma, passing through the most emblematic areas such as the Plaza de La Alameda, the Santa Catalina Castle or the balconies of the Avenida (Balcones de la Avenida), to conclude in the Plaza de España. During the walk we will be able to discover its extensive history, its numerous festivities, its singular architecture or the most curious anecdotes.
Again, by bus, we will go up to the mountain area to visit one of the most iconic corners of the island, the Royal Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves. Set in an idyllic natural area, we will find an unexpected heritage legacy, the fruit of faith in the island’s patron saint.
To conclude, the visit continues to the Mirador de La Concepción, an authentic natural balcony from which we will be able to observe a general view of Santa Cruz de La Palma and the eastern region in general.
Again, by bus, we will return to the area of Los Cancajos to end the excursion – a cultural trip around the island’s capital that you will not forget!
