A journey to the stars
The spectacular sky of La Palma is protected by the so-called Canary Sky Law to preserve the darkness of the night and enjoy our magnificent starry sky. With this route you can see one of the best skies on the island by day and night.
We will take you from the pick-up point to the viewpoint Roque de los Muchachos at 2426 m. high. This natural enclave is also home to the Roque de Los Muchachos Astrophysical Observatory (ORM), which is one of the most prestigious scientific research centers in the world and has a complete set of telescopes, including the Gran Telescopio de Canarias, currently the largest optical infrared telescope on the planet.
Witnessing the sunset at the summit of the island of La Palma is a spectacle: above the clouds and with the sensation of touching the sky, we can enjoy an unforgettable gift that we will accompany with a glass of wine from La Palma.
In the darkness of the night, at a nearby astronomical lookout, we will embark on a journey to the stars. Our team of Starlight guides will begin with a laser-guided tour of the stars and constellations. It will also give you the opportunity to discover, with our own 11-inch Celestron telescope, stellar systems, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies beyond our own. If the moon and/or planets are visible at that time, we will also visit them.
Come and enjoy the tranquility and safety offered by our buses and experienced drivers. So you won’t have to drive at night, we’ll take you there.
WE ARE READY TO EMBARK, WILL YOU JOIN US?
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE ACTIVITY
- The astronomical routes may be cancelled due to weather conditions: high clouds, wind or snow/ice… that prevent the activity from taking place. In this case, you have the option to change the date during your stay or to be refunded the full cost of the activity. If there are any changes, due to weather or similar, we will inform you the same day on the phone number of the reservation.
- INDISPENSABLE in all seasons: warm clothes, closed shoes and long pants.
- The starting time of the route may be modified, as it depends on the time of sunset.
- The astronomical (night) tours do NOT take place inside the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory as it is closed to the public at night.
- On full moon dates, the activity will not be possible because the moonlight will affect the visibility of the rest of the stars.
- Comfortable clothes and appropriate closed shoes. ALL YEAR ROUND: WARM CLOTHES.
- Enough food and drink.
- Mobile phone with a charged battery.
- Don't forget your camera because you will definitely need it
