Not recommended for people with reduced mobility and / or respiratory problems.
Now you will be able to enjoy a full day route, which will allow you to access places not usually visited with the rest of the excursions and from which you are sure to take away unforgettable memories.
A route that combines several ingredients: a gentle hike through a forest in which scenes from TV series have even been filmed, tasting a traditional homemade menu prepared by Eufrosina, one of those women who have managed to carve out a niche for themselves in the island’s wine world. And last but not least, you can take the much coveted photo in the Porís de Candelaria, a small corner that the inhabitants of Tijarafe have modelled, taking advantage of the existing caves.
We start with a bus trip from the east to the north of the island, until we reach the municipality of Garafía. There, in La Zarza, our hiking route begins, about 6 km approx. in 2 hours (approx.) of walking between slender heather and the sound of birds that takes us to a fairy tale film. During the tour we will discover some engravings of our first settlers, the impressive Caldera del Agua and, of course, one of the reasons why La Palma is called “beautiful”. Our arrival at the well-known Plaza del Gallo will mark the end of the hiking part of this excursion.
We will then depart by bus to the Eufrosina Winery. A stop not only for lunch, but also to enjoy the privileged environment where this place is located, which is so carefully cared for and protected. Possible alternative for lunch is the restaurant Pino de La Virgen.
At the end, we will head towards the coast of the municipality of Tijarafe, where, after a descent along a road that will leave you speechless and where our drivers can demonstrate their skill at the wheel of the buses, we will arrive at the car park from where a concrete road starts, about 10 minutes’ drive. This is how we arrive at El Porís, a charming spot bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, which, together with the light of the area, creates a calm space that will make you fall in love. It is a real treasure for locals and visitors alike. Now we only have to return to the eastern side of the island, but not before enjoying the best views of the Aridane Valley from the viewpoint of El Time.
