A great astronomical treasure
The experience begins at Roque de los Muchachos, the highest point on the island of La Palma at 2,426 meters above sea level, where we will meet at the designated meeting point. From there, we will start the guided tour of the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), one of the most important astronomical complexes in the world, recognized for the exceptional quality of its sky. For approximately two hours, we will tour some of its facilities and, with the help of experts, learn about the operation of the telescopes and the significance of the research conducted there.
The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory houses state-of-the-art telescopes operated by internationally renowned scientific institutions, including the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), the largest optical-infrared telescope in the world. Thanks to its privileged location and strict regulation against light pollution, this site is essential for the study of the universe. Throughout the visit, we will enjoy an impressive natural environment with panoramic views of the volcanic landscape and the Atlantic Ocean. At the end of the visit to the observatory, the excursion will conclude at Roque de los Muchachos, where each participant can continue their experience independently.
