A great astronomical treasure
The excursion to Roque de los Muchachos, the highest point on the island of La Palma at 2,426 meters above sea level, begins on Tuesdays with a transfer from designated pickup points to the Roque de los Muchachos Visitor Center (including a visit after the observatory tour). From there, participants will embark on an organized and guided caravan tour to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), one of the world’s most important astronomical complexes due to the exceptional quality of its sky. Over approximately two hours, visitors will explore some of the scientific facilities, where experts will explain the operation of the telescopes and the significance of the research conducted there.
In the case that you choose the Friday option, it will only include the visit to the observatory, but it does not include the transfer or the visit to the Roque de los Muchachos Visitor Center.
The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory houses state-of-the-art telescopes operated by several international institutions, including the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), the largest optical-infrared telescope in the world. Thanks to its privileged location and strict protection against light pollution, this enclave is key to the study of the universe. After the guided tour, you will return to your point of origin, completing a unique experience that combines science, nature and spectacular views of the volcanic landscape and the Atlantic Ocean.
